Dear Georgian,

On Thursday the Navy celebrated their 247th Birthday! Thank you to all who serve!

Our district is proud to be home to world-class airmen at Moody AFB. The Air Force’s new HH-60W Jolly Green II combat search-and-rescue helicopter was recently deployed overseas with airmen from the 347th Rescue Group at Moody for the first time, which is a milestone after decades of work. Pray for these brave airmen while they are overseas; they truly are the best of the best!

Medicare Open Enrollment began Oct 15th, and my office is here to help! Medicare Part D plans change each year, and reviewing your options during this period will ensure you are enrolled in the plan that best suits your needs. If you are interested in reviewing available options, contact either my Tifton office at (229) 396-5175 or Warner Robins office at (478) 971-1776 to make an appointment for Part D open enrollment assistance.

As always, my staff and I are here to help. Responding to Biden's National Security Strategy

Communist China is an existential threat to the United States. The Biden Administration released their National Security Strategy last week, and while they recognize China as a threat, the fact is the administration has done little to position us to deter and defeat Communist China.

Our nation must act decisively to protect our interests from China’s increasingly aggressive regime, and I look forward to working with my colleagues to deter the Chinese Communist Party.

Celebrating Farmers

On Wednesday, our nation celebrated National Farmer's Day.

90% of our nation’s food supply comes from just 12% of our farms, and under 2% of people in the United States farm. We owe everything to our farmers- and often, we take them for granted.

There is so much hard work that goes into that jar of peanut butter that you buy at the store, and a lot of that hard work is done here in Georgia.

Our farmers work long hours to ensure that we have the food and fiber we depend on. So thank your local farmer for all they do to feed us!

Upcoming Internship Opportunities

My office is seeking full-time and part-time Spring 2023 interns in our Washington D.C. Office.

A qualified candidate should possess strong written and oral communication skills and demonstrate interest in public service. Interns will be expected to fulfill the regular duties of a Congressional intern and may also receive opportunities to assist the Legislative and Communications Staff. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a Congressional office. Generally, the office hours run from 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM when Congress is in session and 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM when not in session.

Georgia ties are preferred, and the deadline to apply for the Spring 2023 internship is November 28.

You can fill out an application here.

Fox News | Democrat-turned-GOP congressman commends Gabbard for leaving party: moderate Dems 'don't exist anymore’

"Rep. Austin Scott, R-Ga., said he wasn't surprised to see Gabbard go from the Democrats, quipping that she is 'way too normal' for the people running the party.

'I’m not surprised to hear that Tulsi left the Democrats – she is a great colleague and a good American,' Scott said. 'She’s way too normal for the clowns running that circus.'"

Just the NewsInfluential congressman says federal effort to facilitate censorship is 'abuse of tax dollars'

"Rep. Austin Scott (R-Ga.), an influential Republican on the House Armed Services Committee, told Just the News on Wednesday the $1 million offer the FBI admitted making to Steele was deeply troubling because it was proof the bureau did not have evidence that the dossier was credible before they submitted some of its allegations in a FISA warrant certified as verified.

'I think people need to go to prison for that,' he told the John Solomon Reports podcast. 'We need an FBI that functions in an apolitical manner. And they have brought tremendous amounts of shame to that institution.'"
