I’ve held many titles in my life, including being the Campaign Manager for Teresa’s Senate campaign. But my most important title is that of being a mother to three wonderful children.

And I’ll be honest, I’m concerned about their futures.

My daughter Jarah has a condition known as lupus. She is one of the 130 million Americans living with a pre-existing condition. If GOP Senator David Perdue got his way, insurance giants could deny her coverage for the rest of her life because of this condition.

We need and deserve universal access to healthcare. And the only way we can put a stop to the GOP assault on our healthcare system and these vital protections is to take back the Senate.

Polling shows Democrats can win this Senate race – we’re only a couple of points behind Perdue – but we have to work for it.

When I think about the world I want to leave my children, I think about a world where we acted to address the climate crisis and ensured that women no longer have to march in the streets to preserve their right to make their own intimate reproductive health decisions.

I think about their ability to cast a ballot without being purged from the voter rolls by politicians trying to rig elections in their favor. I think about a future where if you work hard and play by the rules, you can build a happy and successful life – regardless of the color of your skin, your gender, who you love, or whether or not you have a disability.
