Bison

John,

We’ve been working hard alongside our Tribal partners to restore wild bison to America’s grasslands for over 20 years.

Will you help us continue our work for America’s national mammal and all of America’s wildlife in 2020? We’ll match every dollar you give before December 31.

This year, the Northern Arapaho Tribe of the Wind River Reservation made history by welcoming 10 bison to create their first-ever herd. And the Eastern Shoshone celebrated the birth of a new calf, which marks six in total this year! Our conservation efforts are working.

We need to make sure we can continue to fund our successful programs to restore wild bison herds to America’s grasslands. That’s why we’re doubling your impact for wildlife until our Matching Gift Challenge ends at midnight on December 31st.

Year End Matching Gift Challenge - $477,587 TO GOAL

An estimated 30 million wild bison once roamed across North America’s grasslands. By the beginning of the 20th century, humans had driven them to the brink of extinction and just 23 wild bison remained. Today, there are only a few truly free-ranging and genetically pure wild bison herds in the United States. Will you help us turn the tide and return wildlife like bison to their rightful place?

New research confirms long-held indigenous knowledge that bison—through their unique grazing habits—accelerate the growth and nutritiousness of native grasses and enhance their regional ecosystem. We have a vision for the future: thousands of wild bison taking their rightful place on America’s plains and Tribal lands.

Will you take advantage of our Million Dollar Match? Give $30 before our December 31 deadline to double your impact to help us restore bison to their ancestral home and fund our critical wildlife initiatives.

With your help, we can continue to engage local and national partners—including our work with Native American Tribes to restore bison to Tribal lands across the West. We can also expand our efforts to secure safe habitat for bison and other wildlife through our Adopt-a-Wildlife-Acre program. Our efforts to help bison—and all at-risk wildlife—recover cannot succeed unless members and wildlife champions like you step up.

Please be a strong voice for bison and other wildlife in need by making a matched donation before the deadline on December 31.

Thanks for your support to help protect America’s wildlife and wild places.
