Dear john,

The October District Work Period continued this week. Here are three items I want to share:

Honoring Hispanic Heritage Month

As Hispanic Heritage Month formally concludes today, I am proud to recap my celebration of all the contributions that Latinos make here in Georgia's Sixth District and across the country. In particular, I was pleased to uplift the stories of three Latina leaders who are working hard to make a difference in our community. Earlier this month, I shared the stories of Maritza Morelli, Belisa Urbina, and Pilar Valdez in the Congressional Record. I was honored to speak with each of them this week to express my gratitude for their service to children and families. You can read more about the amazing work they are doing by clicking here, or on the image below.

Lowering Health Care Costs for Georgia Families

This week, I was pleased to share new data which show the impact of the Inflation Reduction Act in lowering health care costs. According to the Joint Economic Committee, 658,000 people in our district can get and keep free or low-cost health insurance plan, 60,000 GA06 residents are now able to access affordable health care coverage, and 1,376,000 seniors across Georgia will soon pay less for their medications, including having their out-of-pocket costs capped and paying no more than $35 a month for insulin. I was proud to support this historic legislation, and I look forward to continuing my work to lower health care costs for all Georgians.

Investing in Our Infrastructure

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law continues to make needed investments in our nation's infrastructure. This week, I was proud to announce that Georgia will receive $45 million in funding to repair bridges in our state. This historic legislative package is continuing to create jobs, restore our roads and bridges, and connect our communities.
