Missing in action: Where did America’s birds go?

Birds are the soundtrack of our lives. From chirps high in the trees, to sing
song calls on a summer evening, it’s hard to imagine a world without them.

But now, nature is sounding a harsh warning: There are 3 billion fewer birds in
our skies now than there were 50 years ago.

Their loss is not only felt in our backyards—but it also deeply impacts food
webs and birds’ natural services, from dispersing seeds to controlling insects
that devour crops and forests.

We’re working on conservation projects across the nation to reverse the decline
of America’s wildlife. We’re raising public awareness about the global wildlife
