In the News: Inflation worse than expected at 8.2% in final preelection report

Inflation clocked in worse than expected at 8.2% for the 12 months ending in September, according to the consumer price index, bad news for the country’s economic health.

The much-anticipated numbers reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Thursday revealed that while it ticked down by one-tenth of a percentage point, inflation is still higher than anticipated and defying the Federal Reserve's aggressive interest rate hikes.

In the News: Mayorkas alerted that no Haitian migrants were ‘whipped’ hours before WH press conference

EXCLUSIVE: Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas was told that the photographer who captured a clash between Border Patrol agents and Haitian migrants in Del Rio had said that the incident was being misconstrued – hours before Mayorkas joined a White House press conference where he didn’t challenge the false narrative.

The Sept. 24, 2021 email, obtained by the Heritage Foundation via a Freedom of Information Act request (FOIA), shines light onto internal deliberations surrounding the controversy in Del Rio, Texas, where Democrats and the White House pushed a narrative that migrants had been "whipped" or "strapped" by Border Patrol agents despite it being quickly debunked.

In the News: Georgia plant nears operation of first new US nuclear reactor in 30 years
 
  Washington Examiner: 

Georgia Power announced it has begun loading fuel into the nuclear reactor core of its Vogtle Unit 3 reactor in Georgia, a major milestone toward bringing online the nation’s first commercial nuclear reactor in more than 30 years.

The announcement puts the Unit 3 reactor on track to come online in the first quarter of 2023. Unit 4 is expected to come online roughly six months after that, sometime in late 2023.
