Despite the obstacles, Democrats have been able to make significant progress for the American people since the January 6th insurrection. But as Election Day approaches we are forced to face the hard fact that the Big Lie is still a dagger pointed at the heart of our democracy.

60 percent of American voters will have one or more election deniers on their ballots this November — including officials up for re-election who supported Trump's insurrection on the U.S. Capitol.

Even Maryland is no exception. The Republican nominees for Governor and Congress — and the GOP nominee running against Chris for Maryland's U.S. Senate seat — are ALL purveyors of the Big Lie. This situation is even worse across the country where a number of election-denying Trump loyalists are strongly favored to win their federal and state races.

These lies are designed to undermine confidence in our elections — the very foundation of our democratic system. We cannot stand by and allow this to happen.

We must be prepared to take proactive action to protect our democratic process. For starters, will you pledge to report to appropriate state or federal authorities any actions that you may witness that undermine the security of our elections — such as threats against election workers, voter suppression, or other crimes?

We still have a lot of work to do when it comes to voting rights and protecting our election process. It starts with passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights and the Freedom to Vote Acts. But it doesn’t end there.

Chris is fighting to defend the right to vote and preserve and protect our democracy. And we need to make sure that he and his colleagues in the Senate have the votes they need to pass federal legislation to do just that after these midterm elections.

That’s why we need to stay alert to anything that undermines the sanctity and security of our elections.
