After decades of stagnant wages and over two years of a debilitating pandemic, most workers are far from the living wages everyone deserves. It’s clear to us that high wages, high employment, and high union representation will transform life for working people – and that’s exactly what we and our candidates fight for.

Unfortunately, the Chairman of the Federal Reserve doesn’t agree. Chairman Powell, a registered Republican appointed by Trump, somehow thinks wages are at all-time high – and wants to force them down.

Let’s get this straight. The most senior official at the Federal Reserve thinks that higher wages and employment are BAD for the economy, but record corporate profits and price gouging are fine?

In other words:

✅ Corporations making record profits and slashing wages during a pandemic

❌ Some workers’ wages increasing minimally thanks to the power of organizing

❌ Higher employment rates with increased union representation

Powerful officials in our government should not prioritize an economy where corporations and shareholders take home millions while working people struggle to secure living wages.

Chairman Powell insists that higher wages are bad for the economy, but wages have *decreased* since the start of the pandemic. And the top 100 corporations raked in an average of 49% more profits in the past two years, while workers’ wages increased by just 1.6%. That’s the real problem here.

When almost half of Congress are millionaires, it’s an upward battle to elect champions for the working class. But we are determined to do it – and that’s why we helped recruit, train, and elect Jamaal Bowman, Cori Bush, and AOC.
