The end of the year is a time for reflection. At MapLight, we’re remembering the many ways we helped defend our democracy in 2019. And it’s all thanks to your support.
Let’s count the many ways your support helped MapLight shield and strengthen our democracy in 2019:
We fought to counter “digital deception.” Our work, led by former FEC Chair Ann Ravel, drew attention to how micro-targeted political advertising and other strategies are being used to manufacture and manipulate public opinion during political events.
We worked with state and local democracy campaigns across the country, generating data analyses to help them make the case for reform on issues from public funding to transparency to stronger public ethics laws.
We held our government leaders accountable, publishing data that connected the dots between the political money they received in donations and policy outcomes.
We began preparations for 2020 election coverage by updating Voter’s Edge, our one-stop online voter guide that provides nonpartisan information about federal, state, and local elections in California.
