Dear John,
The first five years of a child’s life sets the foundation for a lifetime of learning. At birth, children don’t get to decide if they are born into poverty or wealth. At age 2, they can't control how many words they hear from the people around them, and whether their vocabulary is expanding. At age 5, they don’t know how they will be impacted by trauma, which could take a toll on their health and brain development..
For children born into poverty, it’s not up to them to change their path. They, like all children, need help. That’s where the Ounce comes in, and why my request to you today is so urgent:
Through Dec. 31, thanks to an anonymous donor, your gift to the Ounce will DOUBLE in impact up to $25,000. This means your generosity will go TWICE as far in building a better future for children born into poverty. But only until midnight on Dec. 31.
The differences between children from under-served communities and their wealthier peers take root long before they reach kindergarten, and this achievement gap can significantly affect the rest of their lives.
We know that early interventions can change trajectories of the most vulnerable children—those with special needs, experiencing homelessness or impacted by violence—yet, there are chronic shortages of these services. Help close the gap with your gift today>>
Thanks to support from people like you, the Ounce has stepped up where these shortfalls are found by delivering high-quality early education programs. We're proud to work alongside other advocates to champion an early learning system that prevents—not remediates—the achievement gap. If we can get this right for our youngest learners (and we must), they'll build the skills they need to reach their full potential in school and in life.
Please, John: Make your tax deductible gift of $10 or more by Dec. 31 and it will DOUBLE in impact up to $25,000 -- going twice as far to build a better future for children born into poverty.
If you believe, like I do, that early education should be a ‘must have,' not a ‘nice to have' I urge you to make a donation to the Ounce today. |
Sincerely,

 |
