Friend, will you sign our petition urging my fellow governors to join me and President Biden in pardoning fellow Americans with marijuana possession convictions?

Back in 2019, I was proud to be the first governor in the country to pardon thousands of Washingtonians previously convicted of marijuana possession.

So I was thrilled to see President Biden's recent announcement pardoning thousands of people with federal convictions for marijuana possession. And I couldn't agree more with the president's decision. Every governor across the country should follow suit.

Let's make sure America's governors are hearing our call: Join me in urging my fellow governors to follow our lead, and President Biden's example, by pardoning citizens with marijuana convictions.

This is a step in correcting the injustices caused by marijuana laws, particularly in communities of color. But without states taking measures to initiate pardons on their own, the president's impact will be limited.

Archaic marijuana laws make it harder for convicted individuals to live their lives. Their convictions make it harder to find housing, to find a job, to play a productive role in our communities.

It's time for other governors to follow President Biden and Washington state's lead and take measures to remedy the effects of these unjust laws.

Sign your name to show how unjust and discriminatory marijuana laws are and urge other governors to take action.

Very truly yours,

Jay
