Dear John,

Today we are launching our festive events campaign 2022!

Every year we campaign to see an end to the use of animals in festive events. Animals like reindeer, donkeys, birds and many more will be paraded through the city centres, held in pens in shopping centres and on show in live nativities. They will be transported up and down the country, be exposed to loud noises from large crowds and bright lights, all of which causes animals immense stress.

These animals are denied their freedom, their ability to choose, and their chance at a normal life in the wild where they belong.

Find out ways YOU can help animals this festive season.

This year we have a new map

Here you can find details of those events that are using animals AND you can also see events that are going animal free this year!

Using the map you can email organisers and politely ask they cancel the use of animals in the events. We also have a template email ready to use to make it easier for you to take action for animals.

Over the coming weeks we will also be launching online actions to target individual events and asking you, our supporters, to contact event organisers, asking them not to exploit live animals in their celebrations. We will also be sending out regular calls-to-action asking you to boycott events, share posts to raise awareness, and attend demonstrations where appropriate.
If you want to start making a difference right now, you can.

One of our supporters, Caroline, has launched a petition ([link removed]) asking that Lapland UK stop their use of both reindeer and huskies in their annual event.

Last year, Caroline, made an enormous difference for animals exploited in festive events by starting a petition to ask the organisers of Silcockā€™s Winter Wonderland in Manchester to stop using reindeer. It was a huge success, gaining almost 50,000 signatures and resulting in Silcocks cancelling their use of live reindeer.

So let's try again this year!

Sign and share Carolineā€™s petition to stop Lapland UK using live animals.

We have launched a new tool so you can now report events to us even more easily

If you become aware of a planned event that will be using live animals, please let us know about it using our online form ([link removed]) .

We will then contact them to politely make them aware of the ethical and welfare problems surrounding these uses of animals.

If you visit an event over the festive period and find they have animals then please record evidence, if it is safe to do so and send us pictures and/or video evidence.
Get involved with cruelty-free events happening across the country

We will be promoting positive animal-free events in the run up to Christmas this year to encourage event organisers to go animal free and to give options to those wanting to attend Christmas celebrations.

If you would like us to feature an event, please send the details to [email protected] (mailto:[email protected])
