A few days ago, someone edited Jamaal's Wikipedia page, calling him the N-word in a shocking display of modern-day online hate speech.
This isn't the first time Jamaal has been impacted by blatant racism. Our primary opponent even darkened his skin in mailers sent around all of NY-16. Unfortunately, we know it won't be the last time unless and until we work to dismantle the status quo of systemic racism in our government and in our communities.
Our movement for true racial justice in this country will continue to face obstacles, but if we come together, we can overcome them. We all want the same things — no matter where we come from, what we look like, or how much money we have, we want a country where our families and our communities can thrive.
Jamaal won't be deterred in continuing to grow this movement. He's launching a tour next week to do his part to protect our Democratic majority in the House of Representatives. And here on Team Bowman, we'll always have his back against the hate that comes our way.
