New York Times headline: Federal judge blocks N.Y. gun law, finding much of it unconstitutional

This is a major setback for our movement, John.

A federal judge just blocked a new set of gun safety laws passed in New York, choosing to side with the NRA and gun lobby over our lives.

Last month, Governor Kathy Hochul passed these lifesaving gun safety measures after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a longstanding law that required basic guardrails in order to obtain concealed carry permits. Now, another court has stepped in on behalf of the gun lobby’s best interests and at the expense of public safety.

According to the judge’s ruling, banning guns in schools, government buildings, polling places, and churches is okay, but other locations like public transit, summer camps, Times Square, and bars are strictly off-limits. Make it make sense.

Let’s be clear: This ruling will put more New Yorkers’ lives in danger and increase gun violence across the state. With record mass shootings and gun violence incidents skyrocketing across the country, this couldn't come at a worse time.

Since we cannot rely on corrupt politicians and judges to act on our behalf, we must act now. Rush a contribution to fight back against this reckless decision and demand Congress enact stronger gun safety laws >>

No parent or child should fear going out in public places because of gun violence.

Thanks for being part of our collective fight. This work cannot be done without you.
