Friend – My debate with Darren Bailey just ended and I wanted you to hear about it directly from me.

As I made clear tonight, this election couldn't be more consequential – after four years of Democrats delivering for working families, my extremist far-right opponent is plotting to ban fundamental rights and roll out the red carpet for Trump. His plan is to scare, insult, and lie his way into an office where he could reverse generations of progress.

It's not going to happen on my watch. But we can't defeat Darren Bailey's agenda alone, so I have one question for you:

Are you ready for the fight?

Look, I'm biased here, but on one issue after another, we really have gotten big things done for Illinois.

  • We enshrined reproductive rights into law;
  • We raised the minimum wage to $15/hour;
  • We expanded access to affordable health care;
  • We balanced budgets and delivered $1.8 billion in tax relief;
  • We launched the largest program in state history to rebuild roads, bridges, railways, and schools;
  • We made it easier for families to pay for child care and college;
  • We followed the science to fight COVID-19.

While we fulfilled our promises to voters, Darren Bailey was ignoring working people across Illinois and sponsoring a ridiculous bill to kick Chicago out of the state.

Now, as a candidate, he's pushing the most dangerous set of policies ever put forth by a nominee for governor.

He wants to control women's bodies, forcing victims of rape and incest to carry pregnancies to term.

He wants to eliminate the state minimum wage, cutting the income of hundreds of thousands of people.

He wants to restrict voting rights, endorsed efforts to overthrow the 2020 election, and surrounds himself with people who stormed the Capitol on January 6.

Darren Bailey's vision for our state is straight out of a horror movie, but we're not going to let him take power and roll back our rights. Not as long as we stand up and fight back over the next few weeks, so I'll ask one more time: Are you ready for the fight?

It means so much to Juliana and me to have you by our side.

Let's give this all we've got,

JB
