New reporting just exposed that an energy company called NextEra, which would hugely profit from the deal, has been showering Senator Schumer with campaign donations this year.

NextEra, which is one of the companies behind the dangerous Mountain Valley Pipeline, donated 4x more to Schumer than they donated to Manchin! In fact, they were Schumer’s second-largest donor this year—despite never being on his top-five donors list before!

Senator Schumer presented this dirty deal as the unfortunate price we had to pay to get Manchin’s support for the Inflation Reduction Act. But these campaign donations have left us asking ourselves, whose dirty deal is it?
