Letter from the Mayor

Dear Washingtonians,

It has been a big week for moving long-awaited projects forward. On Monday, we broke ground on The Asberry?at Barry Farm. Barry Farm is?the site of so much important history for DC and for families in Ward 8, and The Asberry is the first step toward bringing families and seniors back home.

Then, a day later, we were at Skyland in Ward 7 to do something that hasn't happened in fifteen years: we opened a full-service grocery store East of the River. The new Lidl and the many other amenities that are now at Skyland are the result of 30 years of advocacy from the community. Years ago, community members saw an underutilized parcel of land and saw the potential for more housing, more retail, more opportunity, and for much-needed food access points. Then, through all the ups and downs, the community never gave up on Skyland.

Lidl

The community in Ward 7 has made clear their vision for Skyland Town Center. I promised we would deliver, and we are keeping that promise.?

Sincerely,

Muriel Bowser

NEW: Childhood Vaccination Clinics
Vaccination Clinics

From October 3 through November 18, DC Health is partnering with Children's National Hospital to offer childhood vaccination clinics at five locations across the city. *The clinics are designed to ensure that any child who is excluded from school because they are noncompliant with the District?s school vaccination policy can receive a vaccination and return to school.*

Parents whose children are still not up-to-date on their required vaccinations should first contact their regular pediatric provider to schedule an appointment for vaccinations. If parents do not have a regular pediatric provider or are unable to schedule an appointment with that provider, they can call Children?s National Hospital at 1-888-884-BEAR (1-888-884-2327) and request to schedule an appointment for general pediatrics. Because all pediatric providers, including these clinics, may receive a large number of requests for appointments, DC Health encourages parents to schedule those appointments now. This will reduce the number of days that children may be excluded from school.

The clinics will operate Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m.?4:00 p.m. Learn more HERE [ [link removed] ].?
