Dear Friend,

For many of our Nail Salon members, Adhikaar is a bridge to a more dignified future. As new immigrants they face language and cultural barriers that make it difficult to navigate finding decent work and building a professional career. This is especially true for our Nail Salon members who require a professional license to work.

To address these injustices, Adhikaar successfully advocated New York State to offer the 26 hours Nail Salon licensing course, in Nepali -the training course provides professional and leadership development training for nail salon members to help them pass the nail salon state license exams, and begin learning about workers rights and organizing. To ensure that our members had access, we began offering the licensing course at our worker center, through the NYCOSH Beauty School, our NY Healthy Nail Salon Coalition partner.

Yesterday, Adhikaar, along with our coalition partners at the NYC Coalition for Domestic Work and NYHNSC/NYCOSH won *TWO BRAND NEW* NYC Council Budget Initiatives, to support our Domestic Worker and Nail Salon Worker programs - The Domestic Worker and Employer Empowerment Initiative and the Support for Immigrant Women Workers Initiative. This will help expand our Domestic Worker outreach and education, and our Nail Salon Worker workforce development.

Thank you for taking the time to support and uplift our work. Your donation helps Adhikaar meet the challenges of today and work with our communities to build a system that works for all of us.

Sincerely,

Pabitra Khati Benjamin,
Executive Director, Adhikaar
