Friend, every few days I send our team an update about where we are focused and what our goals are. I thought it’d be helpful to share it with you, the broader Lincoln Project community, so you know exactly what we’re doing and how you can help.

You’ve heard Trygve talk about our “existential states” where we believe democracy is truly going to live or die based on election results. Those states are Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin. Ultra-MAGA election deniers are up for Governor in each state – and in four of them, they’re running for Secretary of State too. (In Pennsylvania, the Governor appoints the SoS, which is why we can’t let Doug Mastriano anywhere near the Governor’s mansion).

The races in Arizona, Nevada, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin will likely decide the balance of power in the Senate as well. It’s important to understand that if we can turn a soft former Republican voter off of an ultra-MAGA candidate for Governor, we have data showing they won’t vote down the ticket in races like Senate or Secretary of State either – such is the poison that has permeated the entire GOP.

We are up against our next big fundraising deadline this Friday. This is not only the last quarterly deadline before the election – it’s one of my last chances to look at our budget and deploy our resources where we think they’re most needed. We are laser-focused on these five states (and a few others you’ll hear about soon). Last week, we sounded the alarm with our “S.O.S” ad, targeting voters in Arizona, Nevada, Wisconsin, and Michigan to make sure they knew that Trump is essentially hand-picking Big Lie believers to run their elections – and hand him victory in 2024 no matter how the people vote.

Right now, we’re up with a six-figure ad buy in Pennsylvania calling Doug Mastriano out for his blatant antisemitism and extremism to swing voters who we know will drop him in a heartbeat if they knew he spent his free time dressing up as a Confederate soldier and paying for campaign help on Gab, one of the most twisted social media platforms out there (and I’m saying that knowing Truth Social still exists, somehow). Every race in these states will come down to the wire. Arizona, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. A point or two will make the difference. Our competitive advantage is we have the best messaging, the best messengers and the best ability to identify exactly who we need to target.

I really believe that you are helping power the best team in American politics (or global politics for that matter.) Our ability to move a race or narrative is unmatched. Let’s match that power with the focus necessary to wake up on November 9th and know that we did everything we could to win our existential races.

This is the time to focus. As I told our team, if it’s not in one of our key races or part of our pro-democracy strategy, it can wait. Yes, it’s true that we’ve got momentum. But it means nothing if we don’t finish. Pitch in before our midnight deadline on Friday to  make sure we can win on November 8th. >>
