CNN’s Chris Cillizza published an
article yesterday analyzing why Marjorie Taylor Greene is poised to
gain even more influence over Congress if the GOP takes
control of the House of Representatives this fall. Here’s
why:

A narrow House Republican majority
means that Kevin McCarthy, who will likely be the Speaker in 2023 if
the party retakes the House, would need every single GOP vote to pass
critical measures.

The House Freedom Caucus, which boasts
40-ish members, is one of the largest – and most cohesive – voting
blocs in the chamber.
-
If they withhold their votes on any
measure, they could effectively kill it.
- McCarthy
has to make nice with the Freedom Caucus on, well, pretty much
everything. That includes his ascension to the
Speakership.
If this happens, Marjorie Taylor Greene would have ENORMOUS
leverage over McCarthy, and therefore the entire U.S. Congress.
We can’t let that happen.
