Rachel Bitecofer, whose 2018 model was among the most accurate of all midterm predictors, recently released an analysis of House races. She concluded that "despite Democrats’ impressive 2018 performance, they left half a dozen seats uncontested in the 2018 cycle that may well have flipped if they had been identified as competitive by the Democrats’ campaign apparatus." TX-25, with a significant population of non-white voters that national Democrats had previously ignored, is one of those seats.

Despite not receiving help from the major party apparatus, Julie came within single digits of unseating Roger Williams last year. Her bold progressive message and commitment to a fully grassroots-funded campaign resonated with people and turned out new voters.
