In just a minute, I’m going to ask if you can make a contribution to my campaign ahead of our final end-of-quarter fundraising deadline. First, though, I want to tell you a little more about what the final weeks of our race will look like.

This is a midterm year, which historically means that fewer voters turn out to the polls. Our team is hard at work to combat that, so we’re traveling the district, meeting with folks, knocking doors, and making sure everybody has a plan to cast a ballot this fall, whether they do it early or on Election Day itself.

At the same time, interest in our race will only ramp up. Some folks will be tuning in for the very first time, so we’re working hard to reach them where they are — in person, online, or via TV ads — make sure they’ve got the facts on the choices they have this fall, and that they’ve got the information they need to vote.

While we’re focused on reaching voters, my opponent will be doing the same, encouraging folks to cast a ballot for him. And at any given moment, the super PACs on his side could decide to flood this race with money, attacking me — so we have to be prepared for that, too.

That’s why Friday’s end-of-quarter deadline is so important. The money we raise here goes directly toward funding our voter outreach efforts, while ensuring we have the resources to fight back against anything the other side throws at us.
