Hi John. I've got some good news, and some not-so-good news.

First, the good news: last night Senator Joe Manchin withdrew the fossil
fuel bill that he has been trying to push through Congress for weeks.
Manchin didn't have enough votes and the fossil fuel industry was forced
to abandon their last ditch effort to advance more pipeline projects.

Make no mistake about it, John
— this victory is a result of tens of thousands of people just like you
who are doing everything they can to protect our planet.

Now, the bad news: we rely on small donations from supporters like you to
fund a significant amount of our organizing here in the United States.
That includes organizing to stop fossil-fuel backed legislation like
yesterday's bill that we defeated.

But this year, our average contribution is significantly below where we
want to be. Check it out — the blue line is where we were last year, and
red is this year:

There are two ways to fix this problem: we either need a few people to
chip in more than they usually do, or we need a lot more contributions.

$3.50
— or whatever amount makes sense for you to donate today — to help us
raise $150,000 before our September 30 deadline? Any amount you can donate
will be immediately put to work in our climate campaigning.

Unfortunately, the fossil fuel industry is having the opposite experience.
They're awash in record profits, thanks to soaring prices of oil and gas.

And even though we may have defeated Manchin yesterday, there are going to
be many, many more battles ahead.

So while the difference of a few dollars less in our average contribution
may not seem like that big of a deal, it adds up to a lot fewer resources
for our climate campaigning.

Adding a contribution today will help make up for any shortfall, and help
power climate campaigning so we can pass the bold climate action we need
to turn things around for our planet.

$3.50
contribution — or any amount that you can afford today — to support
350.org's climate campaigning.

Thanks so much for all you do.

Onwards,

Monica Hollander
