We all have dreams. Sometimes we just don’t know what those dreams are until we have that moment of realization.
Before I decided to run for Congress against Steve King, I was living out of state and working as a paralegal. But I had this gnawing feeling that I wasn’t doing enough for those around me. That I needed to be doing something different, John.
So I called my Grandma Fern for advice. She didn’t mince words. She told me to come back home and take care of the farm. And so I did.
It was time for me to step up and give back, John. Not just to my family, but to the community that I grew up in.
So I ran for Congress in a very red district and despite moving the needle 24 points and outperforming the top of the ticket by 17%, we didn’t quite pull off a win. But I didn’t give up then and I’m not giving up now. My grandma didn’t raise a quitter!
I’m running for the Iowa State House to improve the lives of those around me. We are facing our critical end-of-month fundraising deadline. Will you chip in $10 to help our campaign over the finish line in November? [[link removed]]
If elected, I will fight to level the playing field for Iowa families. I will work to make sure Iowa’s small businesses aren’t squeezed out by corporate monopolies. And I will fight for our educators and public schools when they need it most.
I’ll never forget my grandma Fern. She helped me realize my dreams and taught me what it means to be part of a community.
With that, I am ready to get to work for my neighbors!
