I'm emailing this morning to ask you to make your first online $3 contribution to our campaign. I hope you'll take a minute and give me a chance to explain why this request is so important — especially today.

Here's the deal:

On Friday at midnight, we're facing our official end-of-quarter FEC fundraising deadline. When it's over, our finance team is legally required to publicly report not just how much money we've raised, but how many donations make up that number, too.

Now, I'll be honest. It's the second number — the one that shows the incredible grassroots strength of our movement — that I care about the most.

But the truth is that the first number is pretty important too, especially when we have so much work ahead of us organizing and building that movement.

Your support is critical if we're going to have the resources necessary — especially during this midterm election season — to take on the fossil fuel lobby, the right-wing super PACs, and the deep-pocketed billionaires who want nothing more than to see our bold progressive agenda fail.

That's why your $3 today is so important. We have some modest fundraising goals to hit before Friday's midnight deadline, and as an important member of this team, I'm hoping I can count on your support.
