Dear John,

Tonight, we celebrate the first night of Hanukkah, a holiday symbolizing the strength and resilience of the Jewish people.

We recall the story of how the Maccabees faced one of the most powerful and advanced armies. Though greatly outnumbered, the Maccabees rose up—and succeeded—because it was up to them to defend their people’s legacy.

Throughout history, Jews have faced dark days, but have always managed to prevail. And today, more than two thousand years after the Maccabees’ valiant fight, Jewish communities are once again coming under attack.

Israel’s legitimacy is regularly assailed; nearly one in three American Jews, according to a recent AJC survey, are scared to publicly display symbols identifying their religion; and an epidemic of antisemitic incidents target Jewish people and Jewish places here at home and around the world.

In these trying times, AJC is fighting harder—and calling on you to do the same. It’s up to us to stand together and lead the battle against antisemitism and all forms of hate.

This Hanukkah, join me in supporting AJC. If you make a gift today, a generous donor will match it, dollar-for-dollar, up to a total of $350,000.

Don’t miss this chance to have your gift—and your impact—doubled!

On behalf of AJC, I wish you a very Happy Hanukkah. I hope the flames of your Hanukkah candles light a path forward to a brighter future for Jews and all humanity.

Warmly,

Harriet P. Schleifer
AJC President

Individual gifts up to $10,000 will be matched through 12.31.19. The total challenge grant is $350,000.
