Friend, when I launched this campaign, one core value was always on my mind – education. I wanted this campaign to be committed to reinstilling a sense of hope: one where you don’t have to leave home because there isn’t enough opportunity. For many, HBCUs are where our mothers and fathers started and where many of our children choose to go. I fought tirelessly to keep the doors open at Elizabeth City State University to ensure future generations of leaders could attend an HBCU in northeastern North Carolina. But I’m not done fighting for what’s right for our community. There’s a lot of work ahead of us. We have less than 50 days to win this race, and we need you on our side. When in Congress, I will fight to expand access to early childhood education, lower the cost of higher education, and invest heavily in our HBCUs, like Elizabeth City State University. This is the time for the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs to step up to the plate to ensure we’re getting our fair share here in the East. I will support more investments in education and will continue fighting for our children in Washington.
