W.A. Thompson Distributing partners with local police for Christmas baskets giveaway

In California this week, W.A. Thompson Distributing, the Bakersfield Police Department and the Kern County Sheriff's Office partnered for the 35th annual Family to Family Christmas Baskets Giveaway. The tradition began in 1984 with local officers dropping off baskets to 35 needy families. Thursday's event was a much bigger, culminating with the delivery of food and gifts to some 500 families who needed a little extra help this holiday season.

DOJ pushes to extend consent order in Live Nation, Ticketmaster matter

Live Nation has reached a tentative settlement with the Department of Justice over allegations it violated the terms of a 2010 antitrust deal by pressuring concert venues to work with its subsidiary Ticketmaster, the company said Thursday. In a 2010 consent decree, antitrust officials allowed Live Nation to merge with Ticketmaster so long as the firm agreed to follow specific guidelines regarding its interactions with music venues, including an agreement not to retaliate against venues that used other ticketing services. The DOJ said it would ask a court to extend the consent decree—orginally set to expire in 2020 —for a period of 5 1/2 years.

Chipotle to open drive-thru lane for mobile orders at two Valley locations

Chipotle announced Thursday that it plans to open drive-thru lanes specifically for mobile orders at two Valley locations. The test run is happening in Arizona, along with a few other states across the country. Chipotle says due to the popularity of the “grab and go” option to avoid lines; their mobile order system has grown to a $1 billion industry in recent years.
