This was an historic week. The House of Representatives voted to impeach President Donald Trump. We sent two articles of impeachment to the Senate, one on abuse of power and one on obstruction of justice.

Donald Trump bribed a foreign power to target his political opponents. This is a clear abuse of power that violates his oath of office. He then obstructed justice to obscure his wrongdoing from public scrutiny. It became clear to me that the only appropriate remedy for the president’s misconduct is the impeachment process that our Founders established – so I voted yes on impeachment.

The House Intelligence and Judiciary Committees worked hard to hold fair inquiry hearings and lay out the facts for the American people. We fulfilled our duty under the Constitution and voted to hold this president accountable.

Now, members of the House will present the articles of impeachment to the Senate, which will serve as the jury. The Senate owes the American people a fair impeachment trial.

I'm asking: Will you add your name to this petition demanding that Republican senators uphold their oaths of office – not their oaths to Trump – and conduct a fair, fact-based trial of Trump’s impeachment charges?
