On the evening of September 19, 2010 (12 years ago TODAY!), my husband Brian Mast was moving across the battlefield in Kandahar, Afghanistan narrowing in on a high-value target. As a bomb tech, it was his job to clear the way for the rest of his team by finding and disposing of any improvised bombs.

The last explosive device he ever found detonated under his feet. I remember the moment soldiers appeared at my door to tell me–I didn’t know if he was dead or alive. But, by God’s grace and the tenacity of his fellow soldiers, he survived.

The next thing I knew, I was in Walter Reed National Military Medical Center standing by his bed. I looked down to the end of the bed where his feet should have been, but they were gone.

I wasn’t sure what would come next – but Brian’s resolve has been nothing short of inspiring. He learned to walk again, he graduated from college, he has been an amazing father to four beautiful children and he won one of the most competitive races in the entire country to be a Republican representative from Florida.

We call today – the anniversary of that fateful day – Brian’s “Alive Day.” And, today, he needs your help to continue his service. You see, he’s under attack from Nancy Pelosi and her allies in Congress. If we don’t help him, his service could get cut short. Please, will you help?

, as I reflect back on that fateful day, it’s clear to me that we won’t be able to defend our nation right now unless we all work together. Just like he’d be dead if his fellow soldiers hadn’t run toward that explosion, our country stands no chance of surviving if we don’t work together now to protect our freedom and liberty.

I’ve heard Brian say it many times: this President doesn’t deserve the title “Commander-In-Chief” after he betrayed the trust of our troops during his failed Afghanistan withdrawal. But if patriotic Americans like Brian lose their races, Biden wins. He gets away without any accountability for his actions.
