This coming Tuesday is National Voter Registration Day―a critical day to remind millions of people across the country to register before the fast-approaching midterm elections.

One quick and easy way for people to register to vote is online. But did you know that 7 states still don’t provide online voter registration? That’s right! From New England to the Great Plains to the Deep South, millions of voters must still mail-in or hand-deliver paper voter registration forms. This is inconvenient for voters and inefficient for town clerks and Secretaries of State.

Join CHN and our national allies in calling on every state to immediately adopt online voter registration to make our democracy accessible to millions more eligible voters.

Right now, the states of Arkansas, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Texas, and Wyoming still don’t offer online voter registration. Our right to vote shouldn’t depend upon our access to a printer or ability to travel in-person to a municipal office. Registration should be as quick and convenient as possible. You can help by calling on election officials in these 7 states to adopt online voter registration.

Because online voter registration is easy, it increases voter participation―particularly among communities of color and under-represented communities. Those are exactly the communities that CHN and our allies are working so hard to help vote this election―particularly in the face of massive voter suppression geared toward suppressing the votes of Black, brown, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, and low-income people.
