The Week in Review

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone had a great week. Read below to see what I’ve been working on this week!

Phoenix Now Owns Highest Inflation Rate in Country. I Am Helping Lower It.

The Biden Administration's radical energy and economic policies are driving up costs for American taxpayers and consumers. This week, it was reported that Phoenix ranked as the number one city in the nation for inflation. The Valley’s 13 percent rate over the past year is the highest recorded rate for an American city in 20 years. The national inflation rate for August was 8.3 percent.

This is unacceptable and I am fighting as hard as I can to lower inflation for us. Below are five bills I’ve supported that help us achieve that.

H.R.6927, the American Energy Security and Transparency Act.
H.Res.492, Resolution to Require Publication of Inflationary Impact Statements.
H.R.859, the Protecting American Energy Jobs Act.
H.R.5701, the Eliminating the RFS and Its Destructive Outcomes Act.
H.Res.426, Resolution to Continue Sanctions on the Russia-Germany Nord Stream 2 Pipeline.

House Freedom Caucus Press Conference Blocking Democrats’ Radical and Inflationary Agenda

Yesterday, I joined my colleagues in the House Freedom Caucus at a press conference to call on House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to reject any attempt to pass a Fiscal Year 2023 omnibus appropriations measure this Congress or any short-term spending bill that expires before the start of the next Congress.

We urged our Republican colleagues to join in our efforts to ensure no taxpayer dollar goes to advance Democrats’ radical, inflationary agenda until the American people have spoken and a new Congress is sworn in next year.

Inflation is at the highest level in 40 years. Gas is about $2 more now than it was during the Trump presidency. The last thing we need to do is spend more money we don’t have. Click the image below to hear some of my remarks:

Floor Speech Supporting the Inclusion of Citizenship Census Question

On the House floor this week, I voiced concerns over the Democrats' ridiculous Ensuring a Fair and Accurate Census Act—a bill that prevents a future President from adding a citizenship question to the Census.

The Census included a citizenship question from its first introduction in 1820 through 1950. In Department of Commerce v. New York, the Supreme Court affirmed that Congress and the Department of Commerce have the authority to include this question.

As policymakers, we need complete and accurate data on who is living in our country. This legislation is unacceptable. Click below to watch my remarks:

Requesting Attorney General Garland Provide an Unredacted Copy of the Affidavit from the Mar-a-Lago Raid

During a House Judiciary Committee markup this week, I supported H.Res. 1325—a resolution that directs Attorney General Merrick Garland to provide an unredacted copy of the affidavit from the Mar-a-Lago raid to the House of Representatives. Many questions remain—including why the raid was conducted and what was seized.

It’s important for Democrats and federal law enforcement to be transparent with Congress. As a member of the House Judiciary and Oversight committees, I have a responsibility to conduct proper oversight of the Biden Administration.

It appears Democrats don't want this information unredacted because it will reveal that the FBI operates with bias against political opponents. Click below to watch some of my remarks.

Democrats Opposing My Resolution to Investigate Biden’s Ministry of Truth

House Homeland Security Committee Democrats opposed H.Res. 1236—my resolution to direct the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary to provide documents to the House of Representatives relating to the Disinformation Governance Board. The resolution calls for all communications or coordination between the Department of Homeland Security, the Executive Office of the President, and social media companies regarding misinformation, disinformation, and mal-information or the Disinformation Governance Board.

Since President Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board mirrored George Orwell’s 1984 society, it’s imperative to find out its intentions and how it came to fruition. My resolution could have helped provide answers to the American public who rightfully rejected the Biden Administration’s attempt to label all information critical of the Administration and its policies as misinformation.

It’s appalling to see Democrats on the committee reject my effort to investigate this board. Either they fear what the correspondence will show or are too cowardly to stand up to President Biden and DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas when they are failing the country.

I want to thank those members of the committee that supported my resolution to demand answers from DHS Secretary Mayorkas regarding his attempt to create a DHS-run ministry of truth.

The resolution can be read here.

Accolades and Awards from the Week

Moms for America presented me with an ‘A’ rating in its first-ever Congressional Ratings “Report Card.” The group examined 20 votes taken by the 116th Congress and awarded higher ratings to those who are committed to protecting the education, diets, healthcare, and safety of mothers and their children. I am truly grateful to receive such an important accolade.

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) also presented me with their NFIB Guardian of Small Business Award based on my pro-small business voting record in the 117th Congress. I would like to thank NFIB’s President and CEO Brad Close for the tremendous honor.

My America First Contract

America has had enough of the disastrous leftist policies of the Biden Administration. Our nation is in desperate need of a new action plan for Republicans to follow in January.

My America First Contract is an outline to reduce inflation and strengthen the economy, secure our border, restore transparency and parental choice in education, reduce violent crime and preserve the rule of law, restore election integrity, break up Big Tech, put America First in foreign, energy, and trade policies, and reinstate good government practices.

In addition to achieving these 8 goals, the plan calls on conducting enhanced oversight and using available leverages to stop the abuse of power from President Biden in 2023. I will introduce legislation supporting each area of the plan within the first 100 days of the next Congressional term and will work with my colleagues to bring that legislation up for consideration in the House.

The full contract may be read here.

Definition of the Week

During an NBC interview this week, Vice President Kamala Harris inaccurately stated that the border is “secure.” This comes at a time when some 5 million illegal aliens have entered our country under President Biden’s watchan all-time high. Any person who has traveled to the border, scrolled through social media, or watched cable news can surely attest that our border is being overrun by millions of illegal aliens. Our nation is being invaded because of President Biden’s open border policies which include halting border wall construction, terminating the Remain in Mexico program, and preventing the removal of deportable aliens.

Inspired by Kamala Harris’ words, here’s the definition of the week:

Secure (Adjective): Porous, wide-open, and permeable.
