In the News: Stubbornly high rents, food prices boost U.S. inflation in August
 
  Reuters:

U.S. consumer prices unexpectedly rose in August and underlying inflation accelerated amid rising costs for rents and healthcare, giving the Federal Reserve ammunition to deliver a third 75 basis points interest rate hike next Wednesday.

The surprisingly firm inflation readings reported by the Labor Department on Tuesday were despite an easing in global supply chains, which had contributed to a surge in prices earlier in the year. With a resilient labor market supporting strong wage growth, inflation has probably not peaked, keeping the Fed on an aggressive monetary policy path for a while.

  New York Post:

President Biden has accused Republican governors of being “un-American” and “playing politics with human beings” by relocating border-crossers to Democrat-run sanctuary hotspots.

Speaking to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Gala late Thursday, Biden insisted that his administration was “committed to fixing the immigration system.”

The Inflation “Reduction” Act is a bad deal for Georgia. While all of Georgia’s federally elected Democrats voted for the bill, Senators Warnock and Ossoff were uniquely positioned to look out for Georgia’s interests, given that the Democratic majority unilaterally wrote the legislation. Unfortunately, Senators Warnock and Ossoff put Georgia last and failed to stand up for our state before the Democrats voted to pass this legislation.

-Reimposes all sanctions on Iran lifted by President Biden unless Iran meets a list of twelve demands from former President Trump’s maximum pressure campaign.

H.R. 8632 – No IDs for Illegals Act (Rep. Van Drew, R-NJ)
-Makes clear that no federal funds may be used for Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Secure Docket Card Program, i.e. IDs for illegals.
