Dear John,

There’s a lot on the line in November, and I wanted to share what this election means to me. As a legislator, I’ve been committed to fighting for progress and delivering for Georgians and Americans.

But everything I — we — have fought for is at risk.

In November, with our votes, we will make a choice, and the implications of that choice cannot be understated.

Our country, and our democracy, is in a fragile state. A shift in power towards Republicans will leave our freedoms and democracy vulnerable to far-right attacks and agendas.

Over the last couple of years, we’ve seen that American democracy is not guaranteed — when it is under attack, we have to protect it. And that means we can’t cede power to a party who is standing behind a former president who incited an act of sedition.

MAGA Republicans threaten our freedoms, our country, and our democracy, so we can’t let up for a moment between now and Election Day.

I can’t believe I have to say this, but we have to elect pro-democracy leaders in November. Can you chip in to my re-election campaign to protect our Democratic House majority and our democracy?

Sanford Bishop
