Hi John,

On what should be a celebratory day kicking off the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, our community woke up to the news of Governor DeSantis using $12 million of OUR tax dollars to fly children and exiles fleeing communism in Maduro’s Venezuela to Martha’s Vineyard.

This is NOT who we are.

Both of my parents came to Miami as children, fleeing a dictatorship that tore their families apart. This country has given everything to my family, and countless others who are exiled from their homeland.

Just like my parents, who risked everything to pursue and build the American Dream, Hispanic and immigrant communities in our state have built successful lives for themselves through hard work and dedication.

Instead of vilifying our community, we should be honoring their sacrifices and celebrating their contributions, especially during Hispanic Heritage Month.

When I am your state senator, I will always uplift the Hispanic community that has strengthened our economy and shaped the rich culture of our state for generations.

Thank you,

Janelle
