Hi folks —

In the same disastrous Supreme Court decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, Justice Clarence Thomas suggested that the Court could revisit — and potentially overturn — its decision that guaranteed marriage equality in every state in our country.

I’ve long been concerned about what a major step back that would be, and that’s why last month we asked you to sign our petition to urge the Senate to pass the Respect for Marriage Act — legislation that House Democrats passed to codify marriage equality into federal law.

I can’t thank you enough for stepping up and making your voice heard.

Now, we’re seeing real momentum behind this legislation: The Senate is planning to vote on the Respect for Marriage Act this month.

I’m going to be fighting alongside my Democratic colleagues to pass this bill, but we’re going to need as many votes as we can get — from Democrats and Republicans — to get this done. We can’t afford to come up short in this critical moment, especially when equal rights are on the line.

So folks, I’m personally asking once again if you can add your name to our petition and urge the Senate to pass the Respect for Marriage Act. We must stand up to protect marriage equality and ensure that our fight for progress doesn’t move backward — will you stand with us? [[link removed]]

Thanks so much for making your voice heard.
