Dear John,

The Trump administration recently announced a proposal to charge a fee for
seeking asylum in the United States.

It’s the latest in a stream of attacks against people seeking safety in our
country. Charging a fee is just wrong. An asylum application fee will leave
asylum out of reach for anyone who can’t pay.

In the next two weeks, we all have the opportunity to weigh in on this proposed
rule. Click here for our instructions on how to submit a public comment in
opposition.

Until December 30th at midnight, anyone can provide a comment explaining why
they disagree with the rule change. All comments will need to be reviewed before
the new rule can be implemented. If we generate enough comments, we could slow
the implementation or stop it completely.

Make a public comment in opposition to the proposed fee for asylum now.
