Luke Drummond-Poynter (he/him) is a 21 year old Psychology student at UCL; like many of us, he has experienced madness. Luke will tell his story of psychosis: hearing voices innocently and experiencing reality differently as a child, becoming more troubled with age and engaging in self-harm, an episode in 2017 which left him unable to leave the house, in active psychosis and with longing for suicide, to growing past it and reflecting on what it means to be a mad person in a state of sanity. As he does so, he will communicate his experience of psychosis in a way that pays heed to his love for it- to the power and the misery of the mad.

Good Mental Health is an Art - book launch and writer's caravan guided tour, Saturday 17 September, 5.00 - 6.00pm (From Hannah Chamberlain)

Good Mental Health is an Art is the new book by Hannah Chamberlain. Excited to welcome you to her writer's caravan for the launch.

Join her for readings from the book and nosey round the hidey hole where it was written. Kind of like a cross between a literary event and an episode of Tiny Homes. The caravan is an essential character in the book, which is full of descriptions of Whitstable and nature - and packed with mental health pick me ups for dull days when creative wellbeing isn't coming easily. The writing in this book is like a warm encouraging hug - so come join her cosy little tribe and settle in for story time and a sneak peek behind the scenes.

Are Mental Health Diagnoses Helpful in a Crisis? (From Psychology Today)

Sometimes, a mental health diagnosis can help clients make sense of their struggles, such as an ADHD diagnosis, for example. But some of the time, diagnoses are more useful for the practitioner who prefers to work with classifications than they are useful for their clients who are just trying to cope.
