John,

Twenty one years ago, America was changed forever.

The illusion of peace we lived under was shattered.

But with the help of our first responders, service members, and brave citizens, America came out stronger on the other side.

As a U.S. Navy Veteran, 9/11 reminds me of why I joined the service. It was my duty to protect our great country from harm - and to defeat the enemy when harm comes our way.

My heart goes out to every American who lost a loved one 21 years ago today, as well as the first responders and service members who lost their lives in the aftermath making sure that an event like this never happens again.

Today especially, I am grateful to be an American. God bless this great country forever and ever.
