Dear John,
It’s been a busy week, but before I get started, I want to take a moment to talk about the 21st anniversary of September 11. Just a little more than two decades ago, the world changed forever. On the orders of Osama Bin Laden, Al Qaeda terrorists hijacked four aircraft to cause mass death and destruction. Nearly 3,000 people perished, including more than 400 police officers, firefighters, and first responders. Our enemies thought they had achieved victory. They were sadly mistaken.
In the aftermath of 9/11, Americans united in compassion and determination to care for one another and bring those responsible to justice. As we revisit the events of that fateful day, we should thank our first responders and civilian heroes as well as honor the memories of those who perished. Treating our fellow Americans with love and compassion are values that set us apart from the rest of the world. Never forget.
