John, here’s the truth:

The political system is designed to discourage regular folks from running for Congress. If you don’t have a network of wealthy supporters or the ability to self-fund your campaign, it is extremely difficult to run and win — especially against an entrenched incumbent.

But, Justice Democrats is doing everything they can to change that. They support candidates like me to run for Congress against entrenched incumbents who only serve the corporate status quo. They also recruited and helped elect leaders such as: Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Jamaal Bowman, and Cori Bush.

This year, we came up less than 300 votes short against corporate-backed Henry Cuellar. If Justice Democrats had more financial resources, it’s very likely that I would have won.

We cannot give up on the fight, it’s more urgent than ever that Justice Democrats has the resources they need to recruit candidates and help them win.

In my primary campaign against Henry Cuellar, we faced millions of dollars of outside spending from establishment super PACs while Nancy Pelosi and other members of Democratic leadership campaigned for Henry Cuellar.

Henry Cuellar is the last anti-choice Democrat in the House; and with reproductive freedom under attack, it’s outrageous that Democratic leaders helped Cuellar edge out a victory.

That’s why your support is so critical, John. When thousands of people each chip in what they can afford, we can come together and take on the establishment’s millions. But, that means we need every single person who reads this email to make a contribution.
