Breaking news, John:
President Donald J. Trump was just officially impeached by the U.S. House of Representatives.
He becomes just the third president to be impeached, making this a historic day in American history.
Let me be clear: your efforts – whether signing our petitions, attending a rally last night, or pitching in to fuel our fight – helped us build undeniable public pressure to hold this corrupt, unruly president accountable to the Constitution.
This is just the first chapter in our efforts to show that no one, not even the president, is above the law. The next step is a trial in the U.S. Senate, in which our Senators will decide whether or not to remove Trump from office.
We know where the GOP-led Senate stands: Mitch McConnell and Lindsey Graham have already said this trial will be a “sham” and they refuse to be “impartial judges,” undermining our democracy and their jobs as outlined in the Constitution. They are putting party over country, plain and simple.
That’s where we, the people, come in. We have to rally and build more public pressure than ever before to demand the Senate does its job, listens to the facts, and holds a fair trial. The fate of our democracy as we know it is at stake.
Democracy for America has been on the frontlines of the impeachment movement since Day 1, and you can bet we’re going to continue to fight for this dangerous president to be removed from office in the days ahead. Will you rush $5 now to fuel our efforts?
