Dear John ,
Thank you.
When I launched my improbable, history-making campaign for Congress in 2019, I could not have imagined the support I would receive from all corners of our nation. Sometimes, I have to pinch myself. Growing up poor, Black, and closeted, I never imagined someone like me could run for Congress, let alone get elected and deliver for working families like my own.
I'm so proud to be part of the most productive Congress in modern history, as the youngest member of House leadership and the most legislatively active freshman member of Congress.
This term, Democrats passed the American Rescue Plan, which brought us back from the brink of economic calamity, cut child poverty in half, and vaccinated our nation in the midst of a deadly pandemic. My proudest legislative achievement was the key role I played in bringing progressives and conservative Democrats together to pass the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the largest investment in our nation’s infrastructure in history.
Recently, I was elated to pass the CHIPS Act, which will lower the price of goods through addressing our supply chain crisis, and the Inflation Reduction Act, which will reduce our carbon emissions by 40 percent by the year 2030 and cap the annual cost of prescription drugs for millions of seniors like my grandmother.
I'm also proud of what our grassroots movement has done in the midst of legislative gridlock. Last summer, I helped lead a successful effort to convince President Biden to extend the national eviction moratorium, which saved lives, and recently helped convince him to cancel student debt to liberate an entire generation of young people to meaningfully participate in our economy while closing the racial wealth gap.
During my first campaign, I ran on all of these policies. And we got them done.
But there is so much more work to be done. Our democracy is in crisis. The next Congress must pass legislation that I co-authored, and which the House passed, called the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act.
I deeply regret that I will not be returning to the House next year. Redistricting in New York has been a nightmare, and an abject failure for Democrats.
As I determine how to be most impactful next year, I’m also focused on what matters now: keeping our majority in the House and growing it in the Senate.
Our democracy, and the progressive legislation we want to see enacted, depend on it.
With your support over the past couple of years, I established Policy is Personal PAC to aid my House and Senate colleagues in holding and expanding our Democratic majorities while getting more diverse, progressive voices elected to Congress.
Policy is Personal has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to Democrats fighting fascism across the country, and will continue to do so over the next couple of months. This cycle, Policy is Personal has succeeded in helping House candidates such as Max Frost (FL-10), Delia Ramirez (IL-03), Greg Casar (TX-35), Jill Tokuda (HI-02), Eric Sorensen (IL-17), Robert Garcia (CA-42), and Will Rollins (CA-41), as well as Senate candidates like Mandela Barnes (Wisconsin) and Val Demings (Florida), win their primaries.
I would be so grateful if you would contribute towards Policy is Personal PAC to help us keep and grow our majorities in the House and Senate. [[link removed]]

I remain in awe of what our movement has accomplished, together, thus far. I am deeply grateful for your support and your friendship. And I promise I will continue leading the important work we have begun.
Sincerely,
