Hi John,

My name is Robin Fulford, and I’m running for Congress as the Democratic nominee in Texas’s second congressional district.

My son graduated from elementary school on May 24, 2022. I was sitting in the auditorium watching proudly when I received a notification on my phone.

I wanted to scream with every ounce of my being; I wanted to break down and sob; I wanted to throw my phone as far as it could possibly fly.

Because that was the day 19 children and two teachers were slaughtered in Uvalde, Texas—just five hours away from my son’s school. And I knew that, had we been in Uvalde, my son would have been in that school, in one of the classrooms targeted by the shooter, lying on the classroom floor—dead or dying.

It wasn’t until they called my son’s name and I looked up that I realized I was the first parent in the audience to know.

Watching my son walk across that stage, it felt like the Twilight Zone—surreal to be sitting in a school auditorium when, nearby, parents were living out their worst nightmare, an unimaginable horror that has become all too commonplace.

I thought about each of those dead children who would never walk across a graduation stage. Each of the parents who would never see their children again in this life. A community that will never be the same.

From Uvalde to El Paso, from Ft. Bliss to Sutherland Springs, Texas has been the scene of five of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history in just the past five years.

So why hasn’t anything changed? ...Because our leaders, like my opponent Dan Crenshaw, lack the courage.

Dan was scheduled to speak at the NRA’s annual meeting a few days after the Uvalde shooting. I assumed he would cancel out of respect for 19 dead students, two dead teachers, dozens of grieving family members, and a heartbroken nation. Because who wouldn’t?

But Dan didn’t have the courage to stand up to the NRA. Instead, he bowed out due to “an unforeseen scheduling conflict.”

And then Dan doubled down…

In speech after speech, even as those in Uvalde were burying their children, Dan Crenshaw was out there promoting a pro-gun agenda that dishonors the dead, their families, our country, and himself.

After Uvalde, I’ve never doubted my decision to challenge Dan this election.

Thousands of Texans—from both sides of the aisle—are standing with us.

There’s an expression you might have heard: Don’t mess with Texas.

Ask anyone from around here, and they’ll tell you that’s especially true when it comes to us mothers: Don’t mess with moms.

I’m not going to sit by and let a right-wing extremist like Dan preach a gospel of violence while our children are being murdered in their classrooms.

I’m not going to sit by and let a right-wing extremist like Dan tell women what decisions they and their doctors can make.

I’m not going to sit by and let a right-wing extremist like Dan make decision after decision that helps fringe members of his party, and hurts the rest of us.

Don’t mess with Texas.
Don’t mess with moms.
And don’t even think about messing with Texas moms.

That’s why I’m running, and I’m asking for your support.

Please chip in $5, $10, or whatever you can afford to help me defeat radical right-wing conservative Dan Crenshaw.
