I want to talk about what’s happening in Michigan right now: an attack on the democratic process.

A coalition called Reproductive Freedom for All collected a record number of signatures for a ballot measure that would amend the state’s constitution to affirm every person’s fundamental right to reproductive freedom.

Recent polling showed strong support. The state’s Bureau of Elections verified that advocates had collected enough valid signatures and recommended that the state Board of Canvassers put it on the ballot this fall. But now two GOP members of that board have blocked it.

Reproductive Freedom for All is taking the case to the Michigan state supreme court, but they’re just days away from the ballot-printing deadline — and they could use our help to handle this latest curveball and keep up the fight.

If it makes sense for you right now, can you make a donation of $3 or more to Michigan Reproductive Freedom for All to fight back and help make sure the will of the people is heard? [[link removed]]

Right after the Supreme Court overturned Roe and sent abortion rights decisions to the states, this team got in the fight supporting a pro-abortion rights campaign in Kansas and Reproductive Freedom for All in Michigan.

As we all saw, the people of Kansas sent a clear message and defended abortion access in a landslide.

And over 730,000 Michiganders signed the petition to put reproductive freedom on the ballot — which could be a blueprint for many other states trying to affirm abortion protections.

But now a couple of Republican officials want to disenfranchise all those voters — and deny the people’s ability to decide this issue — all because of an alleged spacing issue with how the ballot measure is printed. Talk about a flimsy pretext. And talk about a transparent attempt to thwart the democratic process.

Because here’s the way I see it: right-wing extremists know that they don’t have the people on their side. They know that most Americans believe people should be able to make decisions about abortion without inteference from politicians or government agents.

And if we can make sure this measure gets on the ballot, Michigan voters will have the opportunity to secure reproductive freedom in the state constitution. We just have to help Reproductive Freedom for All at this critical pivot point.

Please chip in to support Reproductive Freedom for All right now — any amount would go a long way to help get this decision in front of voters and ensure abortion rights in this state. [[link removed]]
