Abortions have now been restricted or banned in every state touching Illinois. When the Dobbs decision was leaked earlier this year, I promised that Chicago would be a safe haven for abortion rights.
And I meant it.
At that time, I authorized an additional $500,000 to cover the travel, lodging, and abortion access services that women from out-of-state needed.
I'm proud that Chicago is a safe haven for abortion rights. And I'll do everything I can as mayor to ensure all women across the midwest can access reproductive care.
