Children's Law Center's Annual Benefit at District Winery   We’re just two weeks away from our Helping Children Soar Benefit! We’ll be back in-person this year, enjoying the sunset views over the Anacostia and newly completed Frederick Douglas Bridge. Join us on the District Winery’s large, indoor and outdoor terrace where we’ll celebrate the dedication of all those who make our work possible. Since our founding in 1996, Children’s Law Center has represented tens of thousands of DC kids and families – tackling complex challenges and advocating for stable families, good health and a quality education for every DC kid. With your support, we’re able to take what we’ve learned through individual legal assistance to help even more families get the support they need to thrive, such as our work in school discipline reform. We represented Aliyah and Brianna’s family when the sisters were severely bullied in school. Instead of fixing the root cause, the school suspended the girls and their brother repeatedly, sometimes sending them home without even notifying their parents. Because of these students and many others, we successfully advocated for major school discipline reforms and are now assisting partner organizations to help parents and caregivers spot the signs of unlawful detentions. This work would not be possible without the commitment and support of this community: our sponsors and donors, pro bono volunteers, Kite Club members, advocacy partners, family leaders and everyone else dedicated to supporting DC kids and families.
