Happy Labor Day! While we enter the hectic few months leading up to the November election, today is an opportunity to pause and pay tribute to all the contributions and achievements of American workers. It’s also a chance to reflect on everything the labor movement has done for working families in our country.

Back in the 1800s, children worked in mines and factories while many adults worked 12 hours a day, seven days a week. The emergence of labor unions was a driving force that pushed employers to renegotiate hours and pay. Through organization and perseverance, the labor movement has fundamentally reshaped our notion of workers’ rights.

In 2022, the labor movement is back in the spotlight as workers continue fighting to unionize. This next generation of workers is learning what it takes to negotiate with big corporations.

Lucy McBath has been an ally to workers since day one. She spent years working as a flight attendant — an experience that’s shaped her values in Congress. Lucy believes that all working Georgians deserve a living wage and quality healthcare, and she’s fighting to make this a reality.

This Labor Day, all of us on Team Lucy are grateful for the progress that the Labor movement has brought to Americans, and we look forward to what’s next on the horizon.
