Today I’m going to talk about something personal, friend.

Recent Republican attacks have been alarming for my family and families like mine across the country.

In times where you think we’re moving forward, right-wing extremists will try to take you back.

Republicans are working nonstop to bring "Don’t Say Gay" bills to Washington, and 147 House Republicans even voted against codifying marriage equality into law. My extremist opponent Chuck Edwards would join those ranks – he is on the record saying he believes that the government should only legally recognize marriage between one man and one woman.

Attacks on LGBTQ+ families isn’t some far-off possibility, folks, it’s happening right now. And if Republicans win the House majority, they’ll increase their assault on our basic rights.

But we can prevent this by stopping the GOP in their tracks this November. Together, we can ensure that the future of Western North Carolina and the rest of our country is in good hands with leadership rooted in love, hope, and empathy.

I spent years leading the charge for the Campaign for Marriage Equality in the South and two terms as a Buncombe County Commissioner, so I know a thing or two about what it takes to be a leader and get things done. But now, I need your support.

Our last quarterly FEC deadline before the general election is this month. That’s why I’m humbly asking you to donate $25 or whatever you can to help us flip NC-11 blue, expand our House majority, and keep right-wing extremists out of Congress. [
