Last night Teressa attended a community conversation held at PCC South East campus with the Portland Police Association Contract Negotiations.

Let’s get Teressa Raiford elected as Portland’s Next Mayor -

Last night, Teressa attended a Community Conversation on Portland Police Association Contract Negotiations ([link removed]) . With multiple families in attendance who have been affected by gun violence, it comes as no surprise that Teressa knew more than half of the room. Since the death of her nephew in 2010, Teressa has advocated for hundreds of individuals and families right here in Portland, especially those affected by gun violence.

“As the 2020 primaries draw near, the City of Portland still refuses to reasonably deploy the resources and support needed to address our housing accessibility crisis and the resulting over-policing of houseless people by our police department. After making 52% of our cities’ budget available to the Portland Police Bureau, the council lacks a direct approach to provide a safety net of intake services for vulnerable communities.
If blaming our health systems for the shootings of unarmed, houseless portlanders suffering mental health crisis is the strategy to avoid accountability for public safety, then Portland has hit a new low. ([link removed])
It’s time to elect leaders who serve the interests of public health and safety. It’s time to move Portland forward.” - Teressa Raiford

Whether it’s navigating through the legal system or lobbying for policy change as a self-taught civic leader, Teressa Raiford has made a commitment to public service through education, direct outreach and advocacy. Her input in last nights’ discussions that took place were direct, powerful and absolutely necessary. She was recently quoted in Portland Mercury's feature, ‘How does Community Policing Fit into a Changing Portland?’ ([link removed]) .
